Addressing a Gap in Wound Care Education: Why WoundWISE™ Was Built
WoundWISE™ is a hands-on wound care education event built specifically for Canadian clinicians—created by Biomiq along with several industry partners, and in proud partnership with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC®). With its first stop in Kitchener, Ontario on July 15, 2025, this immersive skills lab for nurses and clinicians bridges the gap between knowledge and practice through an innovative event model. Learn more about this new, unique educational experience, which will soon expand across Canada.
In the ever-evolving world of wound care, staying current often means attending lectures or conferences and absorbing the latest guidelines—but it also means not only experiencing the tools and technologies that are shaping patient outcomes firsthand, but learning how to use them straight from the source.
That’s exactly why Biomiq, together with several leading Canadian wound care companies and in proud partnership with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC), created a new event series called, WoundWISE™. It’s a hands-on, in-person and station-based skills lab designed to bring wound care education to life.
Why WoundWISE, and why now?
Across Canada, we’ve heard nurses and clinicians consistently ask for more:
“We want hands-on training.”
“We want practical experience.”
“It has been too many years since our last skills day.”
WoundWISE aims to be an answer.
This event series is designed to give health care professionals caring for individuals experiencing a skin or wound related issue a rare opportunity to try, test, and train with advanced wound healing technologies in a collaborative, education-first environment. Participants rotate through interactive stations, engage directly with clinical experts and product developers, and leave with new confidence in applying innovations to practice.
What makes WoundWISE different?
WoundWISE isn't your standard education day. Here's why it stands apart:
-
Evidence-Based, Competency-Focused Learning
Each station will provide guided, scenario-based training aligned with national wound care standards and best practices.
-
Clinically and Economically Impactful
WoundWISE is designed to help improve both clinical outcomes and cost-efficiency during patient care, by equipping healthcare professionals with the skills, knowledge and product familiarity needed to make effective, timely care decisions.
-
Built Around Patient-Centred Innovation
Explore a well-rounded representation of the wound healing continuum of care—from wound cleansing to wound closure—through immersive interactions with product manufacturers, NSWOCs and clinical experts, and supply chain experts.
-
Truly Hands-On
Clinicians rotate through live skills labs where they’re guided in applying technologies and techniques to a wound model or similar experience. It’s also an opportunity to ask questions in real time and build practical, confidence-based competence with leading-edge technologies.
-
An Opportunity for Continuous Learning for Canadian Clinicians
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance issued by NSWOCC, supporting professional development, continuous learning, and aligning with national wound care competencies.
